PRESS RELEASE
In the throes of his disappointment over not securing the Conservative line, Kevin Byrne made a demonstrably false accusation on social media that I had made a promise to retain the current county attorney should the Conservatives endorse Brett Yarris. This is completely untrue. Either someone fed him incorrect information or he is grasping at straws to rationalize this shocking development.
Fact #1: I have never met Compton Spain nor had any conversation about any future role in a Yarris administration. It would be in Democrats' best interest for Brett Yarris to have a fresh and open process of staffing county government, bringing in new people who are qualified, innovative, and serve the best interests of Putnam County residents.
Fact #2: Kevin Byrne has now been abandoned by the Conservatives after they swept him into power just four years ago (we can only imagine what he did - or didn't do - to lose their trust). Then he was rejected by the Libertarians, and resorted to using paid petitioners to co-opt their line. We haven't even seen Mike Lawler come to his rescue yet.
This is what it looks like when a County Executive has lost the trust of those around him. He probably shouldn't trust those feeding him information either. The myth that somehow Democrats and Conservatives have joined forces to take him down is a fantasy that someone is feeding him, or that he is inventing to make himself feel better.
If Kevin Byrne's tantrum is an indication of how this campaign will go, Putnam County voters will be grateful to vote for the only candidate who has the credentials, temperament, and experience to lead our county into a brighter future: Brett Yarris.
